Kilkenny Business Women’s Network launched their Network Ball 2008 with a reception at Brian O’Dwyer’s sparkling new garage on the Waterford Road. The Network Ball, which is sponsored by Statestreet International, takes place at Hotel Kilkenny on November 1st. The beneficiary charities of the Network Ball 2008 are the Susie Long Hospice Fund and GROW, the world community mental health movement in Ireland. Tickets cost EUR125.00 and are available through Michelle Hill (086) 6061346.

The launch reception, a 1966 MG Roadster, in a beautiful ruby red colour, part-sponsored by Brian O’Dwyer, was unveiled as the grand prize for the Network Ball Raffle. Network President Trish Finegan advised all guests present “You can only be in with a chance to win this beautiful MG if you’re at the Network Ball on November 1st. Only a ticket holder who is there to claim their prize can win!”

Cllr Betty Manning, Deputy Mayor of Kilkenny, officially launched the Ball campaign and thanked the members of Kilkenny Network for all the work the members have done on behalf of local charities over the last five years.

Network President Trish Finegan added that the beneficiary charities for the 2008 Network Ball will be the Susie Long Hospice Fund, which is fundraising to build a hospice in Kilkenny, and GROW, the world community mental health organisation. “We chose the Susie Long Hospice Fund because Susie Long was a very brave, strong woman and mother who spoke out about her illness in order to help others. GROW is also Kilkenny-based and is a very important organisation for the great work they do assisting those with mental illness and depression to live full and happy lives. We would like to thank Statestreet International for their very generous sponsorship of this year’s Network Ball, and also Brian O’Dwyer, not only for hosting this launch, but for part-sponsoring and driving to England to collect our grand prize, this beautiful MG”.

The Kilkenny Network Ball is the Network’s way of “giving something back” to the community which supports the members in their business endeavours. Now in its 5th year and organised entirely by the voluntary members, the Network Ball has to date raised more than EUR125,000 for local and national charities.
